June 2016 Catch Returns
Despite some poor weather, June 2016 has shown continued record catch returns with 78 browns and 4 sea trout recorded!
Small naturals continue to be used almost across the board, but the wide range of patterns catching in June prevents any ‘favourites’ emerging. Although I can report personal catches of 26 browns and 2 sea trout on about 50/50 olive nymph and green montana – if that helps anyone looking for recommendations!
We have had a few negative comments from day ticket anglers about difficulty gaining access to the water. So I’d like to once again remind visitors that it is a natural lake, and as a small club we don’t try to run it a commercial fishery with manicured banks. This is reflected in our extremely competitive day ticket price for 4 fish plus catch and return. Also, visitors should really only consider fishing here by wading during the later part of the season.
