We visited last year with my brother from New Zealand. Unfortunately, none of the boats seemed to have rowlocks. We struggled round the Lake but as you know its hard to get round. We are staying in Henley’s in august and I would like to fish in May. Are the boats (and rowlocks) in working order?
Thank you for your kind enquiry. I’m not sure with whom you spoke last year, but I’m afraid we do not have any boats available to hire by day ticket visitors. The boats at the lake are kept there for private use by members of our small syndicate which manages the fishing. Unfortunately, as we are just a small private club, we are able to sell some day tickets through local outlets, but beyond that managing boat hire and the lakeside is not a really day to day club activity as it would be at a fully commercial fishery.
You mentioned struggling to get round the lake. Again, we do try to keep some paths clear, and have plans to be more proactive in this respect during 2014 as best as we can. The banks should still be quite accessible in May though.
We recognise the issues with the location and try to compensate by offering a hugely competitive 6 fish day ticket for just £12, with unlimited catch & return. A visitor landed 17 fish earlier this week!
I do hope you will understand the limitations of our little lake.
