Management of Natural Resources Consultation
Picture this at Llyn Coron: armed with your day or season ticket and you arrive at the lake to set up for your fishing. As you’re tackling up a family arrives nearby and proceed to jump into the water!
Squealing and splashing about, they’re having a great time.
You may encourage them politely to leave this private water. You may gently point out that, unlike you, they have not paid for access to this water.
However, under new Welsh Assembly Government proposals, that’s exactly what could happen if they are passed!
Unrestricted access for swimmers, kayaks etc. is being considered. And without a seriously strong voice from the angling community that’s what will almost certainly happen.
In effect, everyone will have free, open, unrestricted access to all waterways and stillwaters for whatever recreational activities they wish to pursue.
Far be it from me to influence your opinion, but the consultation runs until 30th September and it is likely that the only means to have this idea reconsidered is weight of numbers in opposition.
